Wellington, Australia, 23 March 2026 — AMPYR is investing over $100,000 directly into the future of the Wellington community, supporting 15 local community organisations through its Bulabul 1 Battery Community Fund. This is the first investment of the Fund.
The funding backs grassroots projects spanning cultural heritage, youth development, energy initiatives, sport and vital community infrastructure, ensuring the benefits of the Bulabul Battery are felt well beyond construction.
Among the recipients, the Wellington PCYC received $10,000 to integrate Come and Play activity sessions into their service offerings.
“This generous support from AMPYR goes far beyond dollars. It’s a genuine investment into our young people, our families and the fabric of the Wellington community,” Glen Shipway, President said.
“AMPYR’s contribution will allow us to strengthen our youth programs, update essential equipment and create even more meaningful opportunities for local young people to feel safe, supported and proud of who they are becoming. We’ll be able to continue to offer a place where Wellington youth can grow, learn, build confidence and stay connected to positive influences.
“This will have a deep and lasting impact across our wider community, as we bring families together, lift community spirit and provide our young people with reasons to stay engaged and on the right path.”
AMPYR Project Director Anthony Yeates said the strong response to the fund demonstrated the huge scope of activities being undertaken by community organisations in and around Wellington.
“We were encouraged by both the quality and range of applications received, and we’re very pleased to support initiatives that will creating meaningful, enduring benefits,” Mr Yeates said.
“It’s great to see the extent of initiatives that these organisations are progressing, and the passion they put into this work. Whether it’s backing local energy projects, investing in cultural heritage initiatives or helping ensure Santa makes a special visit to children in Wellington, this funding allows us to give back to the communities nearest our projects.
“We’re not just working to support NSW’s energy network. We’re committed to the region, and to working alongside the community to deliver projects that connect people, strengthen local capability, celebrate community identity and respond to local priorities.”
